Dear Winemaker,
Good news travels fast. Bad news travels faster. So let’s speed up the good news! First, I’m hearing from my travels that wineries are weathering this economic storm pretty well. Certainly better than the beer and liquor industries. Making smart business decisions pays off.
On my recent trip to the Central Coast, I took in the pristine beauty of the grape clusters emerging on the vines. It was a beautiful escape from the asphalt jungle where I work. It was a fruitful trip, too, because we are welcoming some new customers from that area. If you want to see what some of our current wine clients have to say about us, check out the new testimonials section of our website. We’ve also been getting “props” from the printing industry. Check out our latest awards.
I’d like to introduce you to our new "inside" sales person, Mary Ellen Snelgrove. We also have a guest column from a graphic designer who has worked on 100 wine designs.
Our Wine Label Express, which gives great prices on small case runs, is “flying off the shelves.” Our Ice Bucket Label was recently featured in Wines and Vines as an innovative solution.
Keep the good news coming!

LABELTRONIX WINS GOLD, SILVER, AND BRONZE
We’re proud to share great news: a neutral panel of judges recognized Labeltronix’ great labels in the Excellence in Flexography Awards Competition held recently. Labeltronix took home three awards: 1st and 2nd for a label printed in Process on an Uncoated material. The 3rd place win was for a process label on a coated material. All of these labels were printed on the In-Line, Nilpeter press that Labeltronix invested in 3 years ago. This press is capable of printing “offset quality” and revolutionizes the way labels look using “High-definition” label printing techniques. View the labels that won.
A big “Thank You!” to Laguna Canyon Winery and Claiborne & Churchill Vintners.

ICE BUCKET LABEL FEATURED IN WINES AND VINES
"Innovations in Packaging: Is wine catching up to other beverages?"
That’s the question Wines and Vines’ writer Jim Gordon poses in the latest issue of the magazine. Our Ice Bucket Labels got props for the way they resist slippage, even when bottles are chilled or submerged in ice buckets. Read the whole story here, or just jump to page 5 to see what Jim had to say about Labeltronix’ latest innovation.
GRAPHICS / LABEL DESIGN CORNER – FROM DAMION HICKMAN DESIGNS
Over the past 15 years, my small agency has designed wine labels for about 100 wineries and vineyards. In our experience, designing wine labels is very much like designing a logo. The challenge is to represent the distinctiveness of a brand in a relatively limited space.
A wine bottle’s label is often the only resource a buyer can use to evaluate the wine before purchasing it. The challenge is to design something that sells the product and stands out over the competition. A label's function is to attract attention, communicate a message and persuade the consumer to buy. A good label does all three things simultaneously. Read the entire article here.
